fin issues, any ideas

Firstly, I have an pair of snorkel fins and a pair of picasso freedive fins. When I go multiple days in a row, either set of fins will grind a hole on the outside of my foot just below the ankle bone. I would rather deal with it than wear some type of sock. However if this has happen to anyone else and you have another solution or a brand/model fin that doesn't do this please let me know.

And lastly what fins are the easiest to separate/reconnect the blade and durable for doing this many times. I feel that I am slowly destroying my picasso fins as the skinny ends of the pockets already seem to be wearing quickly from doing this only a handful of times, not to mention it is a bit of a pain. I break the fins down for travel to get them into a suitcase...

I have a breakdown gun and thus don't have as big a use for the sporttube as if I traveled with regular gun.

2 or 3 bands for best performance

I have a customer who feels that he needs 3 tight 5/8" bands to get his 63" x 7.5 mm or 7mm spear up to speed
I feel that 2 5/8" bands that are stretched to 350% to 375%
will give him the most he will get out of that configuration
I do not have small id bands - so please don't bother suggesting those
what I have is 5/8" bands with 1/8" hole
can anyone - especially Majd please chime in - so I can have a second (or third or more) opinions on the subject
I don't want to over power the gun for no reason

Hey guys,

I've got a riffe cx4 with reel, almost new sitting on the shelf in my garage not being used. I bought it when I lived on the Big Island from bluewater hunter in Kona. I'm in the middle of the desert now, and figure the money from it would be worth more than letting it sit unused.

If anyone is interested, PM me or text me at 252-532-9045.

Not even sure what to ask for it. I'll get a few offers and follow up on them. I want to say new with reel it was around 700 dollars.

Traveling with a sportube ** PITA **

$

Hey y'all...

Thought I would relay what a PITA (pain in the A$$) it can be to travel with a sportube when faced with lazy, TSA agents... I absolutely love the sportube and I'm all for safety and respecting authority, but it pisses me off that my tax dollars go to pay for laziness and no attention to detail.

I went to the Bahamas last weekend and packed my sportube with a tickle stick, divebelt, mask, fins, snorkel, clothes and toiletries. That's it, obviously no gun, or slings etc.... The tube came with a brand new TSA approved lock to keep the two halves from separating.

When checking in the agents would ask "What's in the container", and I would answer fins, clothes, etc.. which was met with a deer in headlights blank stare?? So they tell me to leave the bag with them and they will bring it over to TSA oversized bag check. UM, NO!!! I'll walk it over there myself.

Upon dropping the bag off, I watch the dude for a second and sure enough deer in headlights stare. So I ask him if he needs help...
-- response: Duh...Well...if you don't have the key or combo I may have to cut the lock cause I would have to wait for someone with a key? WTF? Why would there be a lock on there if I don't have the combo or key? And since I'm at a major metropolitan airport run the damn thing through the expensive x-ray machine my tax dollars paid for.

Nope, instead I opened it and he started pulling all my gear out, dropping some clothes on the floor and stepping on them... Throws it all back on the table and tells me I can repack it if I want or he will... So all the time I spent putting my gear in there was a waste cause the clowns just rip through it.

On the return flight, I fly out of Tampa and get there plenty early. Drop my tube off, deal with the blank stares and questions etc. and ask the ticket agent where to drop my tube off for inspection. She tells me that they have to bring it over and they have an xray machine so all will be cool. I have a really bad feeling about this, but she will not budge on letting me walk with the tube. I come to find out after asking another TSA agent, that I could have brought the damn thing over to the TSA over sized bag check myself and the ticket agent was wrong.

This is just my advice, if you lock your tube DO NOT LET IT OUT OF YOUR SIGHT until it's been inspected. The no talent ass clowns of course cut my lock off, because they didn't want to wait for the key and didn't run it through the x-ray machine but instead ransacked all my gear. I didn't really care that I lost the lock, but if your not familiar with a sportube, once its unlocked, the two halves can separate and your stuff can be all over the place. Of course when I got my tube, it was open and separating. Thank the good lord I didn't lose anything. Here's the kicker, as an American citizen traveling under the lazy eye of the TSA, you have no recourse! You can not submit a claim for a cut lock or damage as a result of your bag opening due to them cutting a lock? Again I say WTF?

Anyways, from now on I will be traveling with a cotter pin as well as put very detailed directions on the outside of the tube on how a cotter pin works so I don't have to deal with this crap again.

P.S. Even though I didn't get any fish in the Bahamas due to crappy weather, I did manage to score some tasty bugs and the water was warm...WooHoo!

Hey all,
I haven't been out in the water since I left the Marine Corps a little over 2 years ago. If any of you newer guys need someone to get out with or if you've got a little more experience and just need someone reliable to show up and pull his weight let me know. I've been working on my breathing and I can't wait to get started again. I had to take a break after the Military to get my life started. Now I own and operate my own business which allows me 4 day weekends so I am as ready as I am gonna be. I am a 30 year old and I know my way around most vessels if you own one. My days off are most Fridays through Mondays. I'll buy an after dive Beer for those of you who are of age. Reply here or just shoot me a text 562-66Five-5six73 :toast:

Trip Report Baja Yellowtail Spearfishing Madness - Video report

So I dove North Baja for the first time last year, November 21-28th and I have to say it was the best diving for pelagic Gamefish I have ever had in my life! I was solo diving with 80 to 100 plus foot visability and constantly seeing hundreds of yellowtail and thousands of Bonita and Barricuda. With no buddy I played it safe, and only shot 7 yellowtail in 2 hours, I was thinking of 10... but was getting tired. yes, Mex limit is 5 per person, but boat limit was 20, and fisherman only got 1 rat that day... don't ask me how, It was a perfect day to dive!

Enjoy the videos! I made an intro trailer and Parts 1, 2, and 3.:gun:

R&R trip to Australia, NZ, or Indonesia

I'm currently deployed in afghanistan and i have 2 weeks of vacation time in March. I've never done any spearfishing outside of the U.S. and I would like to go out to Australia, NZ, or Indonesia somewhere for some spearfishing.
Is march a good time to spearfish any of those places?

If so, where? And can anyone recommend any charters? I don't have any gear with me because I'm deployed so hopefully a charter will have some gear I can rent or maybe even a shop close by to rent from.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I'm getting ready to try out my new double roller in the pool and decide between a 5/16 and 11/32 shaft.

Anyone have some advice on the best material to make a target out of? Want something with enough density so that the spear doesn't fly clean through.

Thanks

24 Ab Biller, FULLY restored gun...just add water. 100

Had this gun laying around and got tired of looking at it. Stripped it down and cleaned it up for the next owner, tons of dead fish from this gun and it looks pretty much new. Great hole gun or dirty water gun. Stock was carefully sanded and had 4-6 coats of oil applied....overboard again...

Looks way better then new. Mech was cleaned and is ready to do. Brand new bands and new shooting cord, muzzle bungie and BB swivel. Literally just add water.

Only thing is , i removed the extra butt section and trimmed the handle down as seen in the photos. Made the gun lighter and easier for me to work with.

Buyer pays shipping. 100 bucks. Expect about 10-15 for priority shipping.

Photos here, PM if you are interested. Ill include a small jar of oil as well in the box.

Its hard to show just how glossy this oil job came out but its freaking beautiful. Gun will last a lifetime with little and simple care. Straight spear and an OEM flopper.

Boxed and ready to ship.

Extremism? Not at all.

https://www.lewrockwell.com/2017/01/...l-high-ground/

Libertarians are usually on the defensive because their principles seem so extreme and some of their views so radical. This is true whether the opponent or critic of libertarianism is a liberal, a conservative, a Democrat, a Republican, a centrist, a populist, a socialist, a moderate, or a progressive. All are united in their attacks on libertarians in many areas.

But it is these groups who ought to be on the defensive. They all believe that it is appropriate for government at some level

(1) to arrest, fine, imprison, or otherwise punish people for engaging in entirely private, peaceful, voluntary, and consensual actions that do not aggress against the person or property of others,

(2) to fund education, research, cultural, and construction projects,

(3) to regulate, oversee, and sometimes prohibit commercial activity between willing buyers and willing sellers, and

(4) to take people’s resources against their will, by force if necessary, and transfer or redistribute them to other citizens or foreigners as the government sees fit.

Libertarianism is a philosophy of liberty, property, and peace. As I have written elsewhere about libertarianism:

King James, His Bible,...
Laurence M. Vance
Best Price: $15.95
Buy New $19.95

Libertarianism is the philosophy which says that people should be free from individual, societal, or government interference to live their lives any way they desire, pursue their own happiness, accumulate as much wealth as they can, assess their own risk, make their own choices, engage in commerce with anyone who is willing to reciprocate, participate in any economic activity for their profit, and spend the fruits of their labor as they see fit as long as their actions are peaceful, their associations are voluntary, their interactions are consensual, and they don’t violate the personal or property rights of others.

Libertarianism respects personal privacy, financial privacy, free thought, individual responsibility, freedom of conscience, free exchange, free markets, and private property.

Libertarianism celebrates individual liberty, personal freedom, peaceful activity, voluntary interaction, laissez faire, free enterprise, free assembly, free association, free speech, and free expression.

The creed of libertarianism is the non-aggression axiom: everyone should be free from aggression against his person and property as long as he respects the person and property of others. As long as people don’t infringe upon the rights of others by committing, or threatening to commit, acts of fraud, theft, aggression, or violence against their person or property, the government should just leave them alone. But because the government is the greatest violator of personal and property rights, libertarians oppose and seek to limit, by peaceful means, the intervention, regulation, and control of the government.

Instead of being on the defensive and making excuses for or backing away from libertarian principles (like the recent Libertarian Party presidential ticket), libertarians should boldly say: Of course I support this and that! Of course, I oppose thus and so! Of course, I’m a libertarian.

For example—

Of course, I support medical marijuana! It is not the business of government to decide what medical treatments are appropriate. The government should not have anything to do with the practice of medicine.

Of course, I oppose gun-control laws! If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns. Criminals who want to commit armed robbery or murder are not deterred by gun-control laws. There should be a free market in guns just like any other product.

Of course, I oppose public education! It is not the job of the government to educate anyone’s children or force anyone to pay for the education of anyone else’s children. All schools, vouchers, grants, and loans should be private.

Of course, I support the legalization of all drugs! Vices are not crimes. Every crime needs a tangible victim with measurable damages. It is not the job of the government to prohibit or control what a man wants to smoke, snort, swallow, inject or otherwise ingest into his body.

Of course, I oppose Medicare and Medicaid! It is not the job of the government to provide or pay for health care or health insurance. And it is immoral to force some Americans to pay for the health care of other Americans.

Of course, I oppose all foreign aid! No country should receive foreign aid for any reason. What the government gives in foreign aid must first be taken from Americans. No American is ever asked if he wants a portion of his taxes to go to some particular country. If individual Americans want a particular country to be supported, then they should write a check.

War, Christianity, and...
Laurence M. Vance
Best Price: $19.36
Buy New $19.95

Of course, I support all tax deductions and credits! Reducing tax deductions and credits increases government revenue just like raising tax rates. It is always better when Americans are allowed to keep more money in their pockets and out of the hands of Uncle Sam.

Of course, I oppose refundable tax credits like the Earned Income Credit! Refundable tax credits are a form of welfare. No one is entitled to receive a tax refund of money that someone else paid in.

Of course, I oppose the U.S. military providing disaster relief! It is the sole purpose of the military to defend the country. It is never the purpose of the military to provide disaster relief, even in the United States.

Of course, I support the right of people to sell their organs! If there is anything that a man owns free and clear it is his own body. Everyone has the natural right to sell his organs to the highest bidder while he is alive or after he is dead.

Of course, I oppose food stamps! It is not the job of government to feed anyone. All food aid should be undertaken by private organizations.

Of course, I oppose all minimum wage laws! It is not the job of the government to set a minimum price for labor any more than it is the job of the government to set a minimum price for bananas.

Of course, I support free trade! Government-managed trade is nothing but Soviet-style central planning. It is not the job of the government to “protect” industries at the expense of American consumers or calculate the “trade deficit.” Individuals and businesses have the natural right to export goods to or import goods from any country they choose.

Of course, I oppose government unemployment compensation! It is not the job of the government to pay people to not work. Unemployment insurance should be provided by the private sector just like auto, life, and fire insurance.

Of course, I oppose all anti-discrimination laws! These laws are an attack on private property, freedom of association, freedom of contract, and freedom of thought. In a free society, any individual, business, employer, or organization would have the right to discriminate against anyone for any reason.

Of course, I support ticket scalping! Ticket scalpers perform a valuable service for event hosts and patrons. What could possibly be wrong with an exchange of tickets for cash between a willing buyer and a willing seller, as long as their activity does not violate the property rights of the owner of the ground where they make their exchange?

Of course, I oppose welfare payments! It is immoral to take money from those who work and give it to those who don’t—even when the government does it. All charity should be private and voluntary.

Of course, I oppose occupational licensing! Why should anyone have to get permission from the government to open a business, engage in commerce, work in certain occupations, have a particular vocation, or provide a service to willing customers? Why does anyone need permission from the government to work? All occupational certification could and should be done by the private sector.

Of course, I support these things! Of course, I oppose these things! Of course, I’m a libertarian! “Libertarians,” as economist Robert Higgs has said, “should never concede the moral high ground to those who insist on coercively interfering with freedom.”

The Best of Laurence M. Vance
