Saw a video awhile back and went to finally pull the trigger on making our own bands. Looked for the camo bands and came up empty. Anyone have a lead on them?

just wanted to share this serendipity that happened a while back
I was in K mart in the bath section and came across these stainless steel beads
they are shower rings - and they have perfect wishbone beads built in
I paid 5$ for a set of ten and each one has 5 beads on them - so 50 beads for 5$
but you just take some of the 1.7mm - super tight and stiff dyneema - put it through the bead and tie it off - I use pliers to make it super tight - then put either super glue - (in this case I used some epoxy I had mixed ) and put it on the knot for insurance - (so it won't slip ever)
then you just use them
these are so perfect -they are neither too big or too small - and the hole is perfect for the dyneema
enjoy

given everything is eventually going to be closed in the impending future.
need to start focusing on lionfish. they are abundant, nobody seriously shoot at them, they are an easy shot and they are great eating. just pain in the azz to harvest. (rather take a man of war tentacle wrap around over an actual lion fish injected sting any day - and twice on the weekends)
given that said. was considering xs fogcutter x (preferably the recon version) for the job. although quite expensive ($90). it would serve to combine both knife and shear. one less tool to carry.
the real question. 1) how does the fogcutter hold up to continuous lionfish spines cuttings. yes on the bigger 16" plus ones. any smaller and it is not worth the hassle. not interested in a bulky lionfish tube and shooting a bunch of 6" ones. 2) heard the rusting is pretty bad on these fogcutter due to cheaper stainless. that would question the durability of cutting bone/spines.
btw. a 420 stainless shear is $10.

Hello Everyone,
I just registered for this site as I'm trying to get more serious about spearfishing and get the right equipment! I spearfished for the first time last summer with a cheap/crappy gun that I had little success with. I've already searched the site using the search bar and gotten some great information but I was wondering if you guys could help me out on picking a good gun that will fit my budget and work well for the conditions I'm shooting in.
I'll be fishing in the mediterranean sea in Greece where there aren't a whole lot of very large fish (at least not where I've been) and my dives will probably be confined to the 10-15m range in rocky type of terrain. The largest fish I would probably every have the chance to shoot would be grouper around 5kg or so. Other than that probably mostly white sea bream, european seabass, and maybe dentex if I get lucky. My other gun was around 90cm I think and that length seemed to work well for that type of terrain so I was thinking something in that range but let me know if you think a different length would be better.
My previous gun had one 16mm band I think and it seemed really underpowered. Would a 2 or 3 banded gun be overkill for these conditions? Also any particular brands in the $200-250 range that could work great for this? I'm not opposed to buying used in fact I've been looking at the classifieds here for a while I'm just not sure what guns I should be looking for. Please let me know if you have any recommendations.
Thanks,
Greg

Ill be down in Cudjoe Key for a week in March (11-18). I'll be traveling with one other, whom of which has no interest in spearfishing. I don't want to pay a charter big bucks just for one person. I am looking for someone who can take me out. I have been swimming and diving for 10 years, but have only taken up spearfishing in the last two years. Willing to compensate for the cost of tagging along. PM, email, or text to get in touch.

Spearboard Community,
I have recently taken up spearfishing and am looking for a new gun. I have only had one speargun; the SEAC 55cm. I used it once for about 5 hours in the lower Florida Keys and got skunked. After doing some research i have realized that the speargun i purchased was not quite what i was looking for.
I need some advice for what i should purchase next. I plan to use it for both Northeastern striped bass fishing and miscellaneous key west fishing. If it is possible to find a gun that can do both and have the ability to go after some mahi, i would be willing to pay anything. I would prefer to have a band gun with the ability to add a reel.
If you have any recommendations i would love to hear them. I have done some research and can't seem to find the right one. I'm pretty young, only 17, so the gun would be need to last awhile. I have about $350 saved, so i guess that is my budget.
Thanks, Caleb Northcott

Spearboard Community,
I'll be in the lower keys this spring, and am looking for some good areas to either swim to or kayak to. Ill be staying on the Atlantic side of Cudjoe Key, and right now my only viable option are some rocks i spotted on google maps 8 miles from the house. If there is any spots you know of that i could maybe just drive close to and swim from the beach, that would be great.
Thanks, Caleb Northcott

Finally got my GoPro up and running. Added a 3rd band to my MVD inverted roller. Its on a yakayasub 125cm railgun, loads of power, not much recoil.
Real easy to install, and a reasonable price. Let me know if you want me to point you in the right direction to get one.

Gas shortages at Baja pumps, a 20 percent price increase due to de-regulation/ privatation and protesters getting more violent at the border crossings, are all reasons to take stay up here. Weather is looking bad for the next week also. As I post this, my son, Billy, is 500 miles down Baja in 10' breaking swells heading north, trying to stay ahead of the real stuff coming up behind them....makes me glad I am retired from commercial fishing....:)

I've got some freetime during the weekdays and would love to get in the water and shoot some lunch/dinner with a fellow spearo.
I'm up for any inshore, kayak (I've got my own), no kayak, or whatever/wherever. I don't do scuba, have taken the F1 class and have all my own equipment. I'd like to stay in/somewhat near the FWB/Destin area. Shoot me a pm if you'd to hunt with me. I'm safe, very comfortable in the water, not a perv and just like getting wet.
Cheers
John
